Hoop Empire classes combine exercise, dance and fun into a hoop workout that accommodates all levels of fitness and skill and is suitable for all ages. By learning how to command correctly sized and weighted hoops you can discover areas of your own personal power and creative expression while toning up abs, building core strength and confidence, increasing fitness and bringing joy to your daily life. MONTHLY BEGINNER WORKSHOPS @ DANCE CENTRAL - Surry Hills

Learn how to hulahoop with fitness and dance in mind. Tone up those abs and tune into your rhythmic rotations as you learn to command a bigger, heavier hoop. The aim of this class is to create a space for those new to the hoopla to come together and share in the joy of learning with a high-energy workout and wide range of moves and tricks to explore and take home with you. The class will include warm-up, conditioning, stance, saves, turns, skills and drills for on and off the body, multiple hoops, hoop dance, reversals and breaks, hoop jam and warm-down. NEW! MULTI-LEVEL 2 HOUR INTENSIVE WORKSHOP - Darlinghurst

JUNE 21: 11am-1pm
JULY 12: 11am-1pm 

This 2 hour multi-level workshop is aimed at the experienced hooper who is ready to push their practice into a dynamic flow of intermediate through to advanced tricks and hoopdance moves. The workshop will include a warmup, advanced conditioning (sustained abdominal hooping with tricks and dance), sequences and drills to enhance the groove. With a focus on Hybrid Hooping we will work on developing movement and flow within the hoop and extending that to include hoopdance with multiple hoops. Featured tricks: splits with dance, step outs, throw ons, throw offs, throws, angle dancing, breaks and reversals.

Pre-requisite - beginners workshop, course or previous hooping experience.  Level - advanced beginner to intermediate/advanced hooper

 4 WEEK INTERMEDIATE COURSE - AUGUST

This 4 week intermediate course is designed for those who have mastered the Beginner's level and are ready to take their hoopla a step or two further. Over four 1.5 hour weekly classes the course will focus on developing your unique style to reflect your repertoire of tricks. You will leave the course with your own routine to perform in the privacy of your own hoop zone or out in the big wide world! Elements covered include: movement and flow, working the zone, sequencing, angles, on and off the body moves, partner work, floor work, splitting hoops and multiple hoop hoopdance!

When: Saturdays 2, 9, 23 + 30 August; 11am-12.30pm

Where: St Johns Hall, 120 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurt

Cost: $70 for four classes (or $20 drop in if space available)

 

KIDS SCHOOL WORKSHOPS COMING UP IN JULY

There will be three school holiday kids workshops in the month of July - one at Summer Hill Community Centre and two at Waverley Library. The workshops will focus on fun and play with the hoop. Tricks will include hooping on the waist, in the hand, above the head lassos, the pyramid, hoop throughs, multiple hoops and much more!
